time to change the way we view music and the arts

The Few Times When There’s No Hoax

Short post for the flow of news, which isn’t an often occurrence for me to write, since I’m not about racing for a scoop. I am, howeverfor the enlightening of people’s knowledge and for the music world, so here we are.

I have run across several different types of sources via Google within the last five minutes, that mention “RIP Whitney Houston.” Houston was a long-standing, strongly established PopSoul and R&B figure in the music and film industries, known for her self-empowering lyrics (see below) and conversely, heavy struggles with drinking and drug addiction. Already, the phrase is trending on Twitter and I immediately made known that I was scouring the internet for findings of sincere validity to this claim, as it’s no new phenomenon for “RIP” Twitter trends to appear for no reason but someone’s senseless amusement.
Twitter’s New York Trending Topics as of 10:30PM EST. Every topic is connected to Whitney Houston.
Clive Davis was even speculated to have cancelled his annual pre-Grammy party that is scheduled to happen in Beverly Hills tonight. It will carry on –a gathering focused on remembering and honoring her.

Alas, this is not one of those times. With names like Billboard reporting it on their Twitter and (just now) a tweet also via E! Online from Houston’s official rep confirming the news, the industry and the world has lost another far reaching, influential celebrity and strong-willed person, at a far too young age.

At the moment it doesn’t seem like an official (or even un-official) cause has been circulated but I’m sure more details will be pouring out within the coming days.
